One year ago, Los Angeles—the city we call home—experienced the most deadly fires in its history. The devastating impact to the community continues to this day.
On January 7th, 2025, a series of intense wildfires ignited across Los Angeles starting with the Pacific Palisades fire. Just a few hours later, the Eaton Fire in Altadena broke out. Over the next two days alone, more than 15,000 acres of land had already burned. And within another day, three more new fires started.
In total, the L.A. wildfires burned more than 50,000 acres, destroyed over 16,000 homes and buildings, tens of thousands of residents were evacuated and displaced, and tragically, dozens of lives were lost.

Residents lined up for air purifiers outside the Ideal Living office.
As a Los Angeles-based company, we were committed to helping our community, even as we faced power outages and some of our employees were evacuated from their homes. We started with one small truck in the parking lot by our offices, selling professional air purifiers at deeply discounted rates.

The AirDoctor team unloads truckloads of air purifiers on the ground in Los Angeles.
By day three, when air purifiers were so hard to come by at retail stores or online, we brought in a large semi-truck full of even more air purifiers for the community on the ground, and they were gone the same day. People who were unable to wait in line received our customer service number and our live agents fielded over 10,000 calls during that period.
At AirDoctor, we believe everyone has a right to clean air, especially when air quality is at its worst and threatening our health. We knew we wanted to provide access to cleaner, healthier air as best we could to as many people as possible. And that mission continues to drive us today.
Even though the fires are out, we know people are still living through tragedy and trying to rebuild their lives. Since last January, AirDoctor has donated over $325,000 worth of air purifiers to fire stations, schools, libraries, and displaced Angelenos to help support the most devastated communities.
The fires showed us how connected we truly are—we all breathe the same air. The smoke didn’t recognize boundaries, and neither did our care for one another. What began as a crisis became a moment of people coming together to protect, support, and look out for each other in real time.
This is what we faced. This is what we overcame, and what we’ll continue to overcome as we rebuild our community, together.
Thank you to everyone who donated their time and resources, to the brave first responders who risked everything, and to this incredible community of Los Angeles—and beyond—that continues to show what it means to rise from the ashes.
Los Angeles, we’ll always stand with you.
Breathing forward, together
