Product information

The AirDoctor 5500 is a premium air purifier engineered to deliver hospital-grade air quality in everyday living spaces. At its core is our exclusive UltraHEPA® filter which is independently tested and proven to capture 99.99% of airborne particles as small as 0.003 microns, including allergens, mold spores, smoke, bacteria, and viruses.

Its advanced 3-stage filtration system works from the outside in to address virtually every category of indoor air pollutant- quietly, continuously, and effectively.

  • Pre-Filter captures larger airborne particles first, including pet hair, dust, and lint, extending the life of the filters below
  • Premium Carbon/Gas Trap/VOC Filter neutralizes harmful gases, toxic VOCs, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that standard purifiers miss
  • UltraHEPA® Filter captures 99.99% of remaining particles as small as 0.003 microns including allergens, mold spores, smoke, bacteria, and viruses

Designed for extra-large rooms to open-concepts, it circulates air in spaces up to 1,043 sq. ft. four times per hour- the frequency recommended by a Harvard University study cited by the CDC for effective allergen removal.

  • In third-party laboratory testing conducted by MRIGlobal, AirDoctor 5500 removed 99.97% of live SARS-CoV-2 virus from the air in a test chamber

What is Premium UltraHEPA?

HEPA is a 1943 standard. Welcome to UltraHEPA®.

HEPA (high-efficiency particulate air) filters are great. They revolutionized indoor air purification. And until now, they were the best. But UltraHEPA is better.

How? AirDoctor’s innovative UltraHEPA filter captures harmful airborne particles 100x smaller than the HEPA standard. Plus, they typically last a full 12 months.*

The bar has been re-set. Better filter, better air, better life.

*Air quality can affect filter life.

Inside our Premium Carbon/VOC Filter

Remove the toxic gases most air purifiers miss.

HEPA-only air purifiers only do half the job. They remove harmful particles, but do nothing to protect you from toxic gases and volatile organic compounds (VOCs):

  • Toxic gases: ozone, nitrogen dioxide, etc.
  • VOCs: benzene, formaldehyde, & more from furniture, flooring, cleaning products, etc.
  • Health risks: Asthma, cognitive decline, cardiovascular disease, & even cancer

Removes more pollutants than ordinary purifiers

AirDoctor captures 99.99% of airborne particles.

Pet dander

Dust

Protect your home. Protect your health.

Wellness begins with the air you breathe every day.

Better sleep

Lower levels of dust & pollutants in the air reduce nighttime congestion.

Promotes cognitive function

Higher levels of PM2.5 are directly linked to reduced memory.

Reduces odors

Go beyond particles to remove toxic gases & VOCs most air purifiers miss.

Lower risk of infectious diseases

There’s an AirDoctor for every room. Start with where you sleep & gather.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are air changes per hour (ACH) important when shopping for an air purifier?

Air changes per hour (ACH) refers to how many times the air is changed with new, clean air in a given space within the span of an hour. A Harvard University Study cited by the CDC recommends at least 4 air changes per hour to effectively remove allergens like smoke, bacteria, viruses, dust, and pollen.

What is CADR, and why’s it important?

CADR, or Clean Air Delivery Rate, refers to your air purifier’s efficiency in removing these three contaminants over time: pollen, dust, and smoke. Higher CADR numbers indicate better air cleaning performance. The smoke CADR number is most stringent, reflecting the unit’s ability to eliminate the smallest and most dangerous particles from your indoor air.

Which air purifier is right for me?

Great question! Choosing the right air purifier will depend on the size of your room and the air circulations per hour. According to the Harvard University study, 4 air changes per hour are recommended for optimal purification. AirDoctor units are designed to meet this standard.

How often do I need to change the filters?

AirDoctor 4000 & 1000: Replace UltraHEPA® and Carbon/VOC filters every 6 months.

All other AirDoctor units:

  • Replace Carbon/VOC filters every 6 months.
  • Replace UltraHEPA® filters every 12 months.

The indicator light on your AirDoctor will also light on when it’s time to replace your filter

– no more guesswork!
